Welcome to the The Continuum of Literacy Learning Online Course. This course is founded in; The Continuum of Literacy Learning framework by Gay Su Pinnell and Irene C. Fountas. As the world of literacy changes, we see some important changes in the accusation of literacy and its increasing demands across grade levels. This online course is designed to dig deep into the Literacy Collaborative initiative of our district and help you better understand the framework of The Continuum of Literacy Learning.
The content of this course focuses on the seven different learning continua; each of these continua focuses on a different aspect of our language and literacy instructional framework.
Interactive read-aloud and literature discussion
Shared and performance reading,
Writing about reading,
Writing
Oral, visual, and technological communication
Phonics, spelling, and word study
Guided reading
In this course you will participate in collaborative online discussions with other teachers taking this course as you all begin to better understand the continuum. You and others in this course will also be creating lesson plans that you can implement into your classroom creating a bank of resources for all teachers to use.
When you have completed this course you will have a better understanding of the Continuum and its organization, what it will look like in your classroom and how to use the continuum effectively with all your students.
